Across from Playa del Carmen, Cozumel offers crystal-clear water, spectacular walls and abundant marine life. Most dives are drifts, letting the current carry you along the reef past turtles, spotted eagle rays, tropical fish and nurse sharks. We cross directly from Playa del Carmen by speedboat and return in the early afternoon.
Akumal means “place of the turtles” in Maya. Its hard-coral reef, between 10 and 25 metres deep, is home to many sea turtles and nurse sharks. It is an ideal trip for taking your time, observing marine life and enjoying an accessible dive.
The 50-metre-long C-56 wreck rests at a depth of approximately 30 metres. Reserved for Advanced Open Water, Level 2 or equivalent divers, the dive may include limited wreck penetration when conditions and experience allow. The first dive can be followed by a dive on the nearby reef or a second dive on the wreck. Spotted eagle rays may be seen throughout the year, with more frequent encounters in winter.

“Fantastic dives in Akumal! Rémi shared his experience with us. He is an excellent and patient instructor, and he took care of the photos and videos, leaving us with truly unforgettable memories.”
“We spent three wonderful days with Rémi.
Professional, friendly, easygoing, honest, funny and... a gourmet.
We completed our Level 2 while combining training and leisure.
Six dives in total: cenotes, ocean reefs and a wreck with magnificent spotted eagle rays—a 50-minute ballet!
Thank you, Rémi!
We recommend him 100,000%.”
“We had a wonderful family experience with Rémi! There were three of us—my two children, aged 16 and 18, and me. He was very attentive and adapted to everyone’s needs and experience. We completed two fantastic dives in Cozumel, including a wreck that was probably the most beautiful dive we have ever done. He also took wonderful underwater family photos. I highly recommend him. My only regret is that we did not have enough time to dive the cenotes with him too!”
